Kadee
(
)
is working on an HO
scale Boston &
Maine 50’ PS-1 box-
car for release in
December. The
model replicates a
prototype car built in 1956 with 12-panel welded sides,
Pullman Standard dart-less ends, and 9’ Youngstown sliding
doors. Note the absence of tabs on the side sill. The model will
be decorated in B&M’s blue and black repaint circa 1971. The
production run will be completed by the time you read this
report. We understand that quantities will be limited and the
ready-to-run model is expected to sell out quickly.
Kadee’s January
releases include
two 40’ PS-1 box-
cars. The Western
Pacific model
shown here has 7’
Youngstown slid-
ing doors. It represents a prototype from 1951 with 10 welded
side panels, narrow bolster sill tabs, and a high tack board on
the PS dart-less “washboard” ends.
The second model scheduled for
release in January is also a PS-1 40’
boxcar, but this version is fitted with
five-panel Creco sliding doors. The
decorating scheme duplicates an
News column - 11
11-year-old Vermont Railway car as repainted in 1965. Note the
low tack board position on the doors and end, and the wide bol-
ster sill tab. Pricing information is available at the website.
