InterMountain has
scheduled a produc-
tion run of HO scale
40’ PS-1 boxcars for
release in March.
Models decorated
for Southern (modern scheme, above), Soo Line, Chesapeake &
Ohio, and U.S. Air Force will have 8’ Youngstown doors. Six-
foot Youngstown doors will be on cars decorated for Canadian
Pacific, ATSF, and Erie Lackawanna. D&RGW and Union Pacific
cars will have a 6’ Creco door. All of the cars will have running
boards, full-height ladders, and PS “washboard” ends.

from InterMountain
in March. In addi-
tion to the
Minneapolis & St Louis scheme shown, road names on the HO
scale model will include Northern Pacific, Atlantic Coast Line,
Central of Georgia, Boston & Maine, Southern Pacific, Norfolk
Southern, and Nashville Chattanooga & St Louis.
A production run of
R-40-23 refrigerator
cars coming in April
will include three
versions of PFE cars.
The original 1947
scheme shown
above has both SP and UP heralds – the latter in color. The roof
and ends are red, and the ladders, grabs, door hardware, and
side sill are painted black. This scheme is accurate for 1947.

designed heralds
have been reposi-
tioned and the let-
tering has been changed to modern Gothic. InterMountain
will also offer this model decorated for Armour, MDT, and
Northern Pacific.
The initial
product from
InterMountain’s
recently announced
“Value Line” will
be 14-panel Coalporter cars. The HO scale models will be pro-
duced from upgraded tooling previously used by LBF and E&C
models. The bolsters have been redesigned and the new ready-
to-run model will be equipped with InterMountain 100-ton
trucks with 36” wheels. It will also have factory installed Kadee
trucks. A release date of May/June 2015 is scheduled for the
Coalporters. Although still not firm, the MSRP is expected to be
about $26.95. In addition to the Portland Gas & Electric (rose)
