model was originally
developed by Tom Yorke,
who based the design
on a Sierra Railroad
structure in Jamestown,
California. Updates include a positionable sliding door, pre-
cut bracing for the cupola vent, and the addition of a loading
dock. The four main walls, dormers, cupola ends, brick pillar
supports, cellar access, and miscellaneous detail parts are all
LabStone castings. The main structure has a footprint of 7" by

kit for John Allen’s Engine
House will be released
later this month from
Mt. Albert Scale Models
. The kit
marks the 100th birth-
day of John Allen whose
famous Gorre & Daphetid
layout featured the memorable structure. Designed by Roger
Malinowski, the new 1:48 craftsman kit features laser-cut wall
panels, board-by-board siding, complete interior framing and

roof trusses, and laser-cut wood shingles. The kit incorpo-
rates detail parts from Tichy, Rusty Rail, VectorCut, Wiseman
Services, and Aspen Modeling Company. Instructions are sup-
plied on a CD, and include numerous construction photos. The
finished model has a footprint of 8'' by 14'' and provides suf-
ficient interior space for two small O scale locomotives. The
limited-edition kit is priced at $295.00.
