, an Englishman named Mike Ruby wrote a piece called
“Deluxe Track-Cleaning Slider Car.”

Even though the slider was mounted on
an old Athearn 40-footer, Mike’s car was “deluxe.”
The slider itself was made of 3mm-thick acrylic. Masonite was
fastened to the acrylic with super-strong carpet tape. To weight
the car, Mike used four pieces of thick, cold-rolled steel strap,
each 2.75 inches long. Actually, the car was so heavy more steel
