Those are the basic 12 steps I used
to replicate a Soo Line rust-bucket
boxcar. Here is no. 16916 in all of its
decrepit and corroding state.
All-in-all I have approximately 52
hours wrapped up in numerous ses-
sions on this car. All the weather-
ing was done without the use of an
airbrush, using inexpensive art sup-
plies. A nicely weathered model can
be achieved with cheap acrylic craft
paints, inexpensive brushes, and pas-
tels. It is very easy achieve a believ-
able representation of a prototype
model without draining one’s bank
account. All it takes is a little time.
