The latest issue of
Railway Prototype Cyclopedia
is devoted to the design and production of ACF’s 1,958
cu. ft. 70-ton covered hopper car. Co-authored by Ed Hawkins
and Pat Wider, the article includes a history of the early devel-
opment of covered hoppers, details about the 70-ton demon-
strator built by ACF in 1932, and the primary variations built by
ACF from 1937 to 1957.
