coal loads. Cars with offset sides will be available for Union
Pacific, CSX, and ATSF. Cars with ribbed sides include Norfolk
Southern, Canadian National, and BNSF. The cars have an MSRP
of $19.98. They are equipped with 70-ton roller-bearing trucks,
except the ATSF version which comes with Bettendorf-type solid
bearing trucks.
Additional Ready-to-Roll series models coming in April are 50’
gondolas with loads decorated for NS, CSX, CN, BNSF, and UP.
Also single-dome tank cars for UP, NS, CSX, CN, BNSF, and ATSF,
and a 50’ ACF boxcar decorated for ATSF, UP, NS, CSX, CN, and
BNSF. All have a list price of $26.98.
A wide-vision steel caboose coming from Athearn in April will
be available at an MSRP of $26.98. Road names will be Santa
Fe, Union Pacific, Norfolk Southern (red), CSX, CN, BNSF, and
Ferromex.
The final item on Athearn’s April schedule is a group of 50’ TTX
flat cars with 45’ trailers at an MSRP of $34.98. The trailers are
decorated for SP (Golden Pig Service), NS (Triple Crown), Conrail
(Trailvan), C&NW (Falcon scheme), BN, and Santa Fe.
Atlas
has scheduled a newly-tooled model of an
ALCo HH600/HH660 diesel switcher for release during the sec-
ond quarter of next year. The HO scale ready-to-run model repli-
cates the post-1937 version of ALCo’s high-hood 600/660 hp
diesel switcher. An Atlas Master Silver® series model with an

Atlas will offer
two versions of
a Trainman
series 62’ flat
car early next
year. A standard flat car will be available at $19.95 decorated for
the Department of Defense, and Alaska Railroad. A bulkhead
version, priced at $23.95, will be available for BC Rail (above),
MSV, TTX (Pennsy Heritage), and D&RGW.
Atlas is prepar-
ing a Master
Series® 50’ dou-
ble-door boxcar
for release dur-
ing the second
quarter of 2014. Spotting features of the model are standard 7’
and 8’ Youngstown doors over the 15’ opening on the car side.
Two numbers each will be available for Duluth, South Shore &
Atlantic; New Haven; Maine Central; Union Pacific; Cotton Belt;
and Canadian National. The ready to run HO scale model will
have an MSRP of $32.95. An undecorated model will have a list
price of $26.95.
