NMRA President Getz to speak at
Naperville RPM
Charlie Getz has accepted an invitation to address prototype
modelers attending the 20th annual Naperville RPMmeet to be
held later this month. Although earlier factions of the National
Model Railroad Association have often been at odds with the
RPMmovement in the past, Getz and Joe D’Elia, who produces
the Naperville meet, agreed that it was time to explore com-
mon ground. Naperville, considered to be the grand daddy of
RPMmeets, was founded 20 years ago by the late Martin Lofton
of Sunshine Models. Although still referred to as Naperville,
the 2013 event will be held October 17-19 in neighboring Lisle,

Athearn to replace damaged handrails
Athearn reports that some Genesis GP50 and and GP38-2 loco-
motives shipped in late July may have incurred damage to the
rear handrails while in transit. Shipments were suspended while
immediate action was taken to correct the packaging. Anyone

Bowser selects LokSound, drops SoundTraxx
Bowser Trains is changing the source of sound decoders for its
DCC equipped locomotives from SoundTraxx to ESU LokSound.
Bowser officials said that a careful study of the two suppliers

that would benefit their customers. Bowser cited what it consid-
ers real advantages of the LokSound system including:
No power booster is required to readdress or reprogram
the locomotive.
A two-year warranty.
Superior low speed control.

Essential sounds are available in both DC and DCC modes.
