Another HO scale
model due from
Walthers in
November is a 50’
insulated boxcar
decorated for Conrail, Erie Lackawanna, Southern Railway, and
Norfolk & Western. The Mainline series model will have an
MSRP of $24.98.
Walthers plans to
release four different
schemes on its HO scale
ACF 10,000-gallon tank
car in late November or
early December. Road
names will include Gulf,
Shell, Union Oil, and Standard Oil (shown here from an earlier
production run). The MSRP will be $24.95 each.
An HO version of
Electro Motive
Division’s hardwork-
ing SW1 diesel switch
engine is set for
release with new
road names in late December. They include Great Northern,
Pennsylvania Railroad, Amtrak, and Rock Island as shown above.
The ready-to-run model comes with an 8-pin plug to accept an
aftermarket DCC decoder. The Walthers Mainline® series model
will have an MSRP of $99.98.

SD7 road locomotive. In addition to the Baltimore & Ohio
scheme shown above, the Proto series model will be avail-
able for Bessemer & Lake Erie, Southern Pacific, and Chicago
& North Western. The HO scale model will be available for
standard DC operation at an MSRP of $198.98. Models with
Tsunami Sound and a DCC decoder will list at $299.98. Visit

Arnold
continues work on developing an N scale General
Electric U25C diesel locomotive. According to Hornby America
, Arnold’s North America distribu-
tor, road names for the U25C will be two numbers each for
Chicago, Burlington & Quincy; Conrail; Louisville and Nashville;
and Northern Pacific. Two numbers will also be available for
Burlington Northern with one number representing an ex-Q
unit and one representing an ex-NP unit. The ready-to-run
models are expected to debut in April or May 2014 at a sug-
gested retail price of $159.99 each.
