Using a lot of them
If you decide to use nothing but the larger trees you should be
good to go, no sizing issues to worry about! Before you gasp at the
costs, realize that this can be more economical than you think. In
my case, the single large tree’s canopy is about 8” x 8” meaning it
provides about half a square foot of layout coverage on its own.
Now that’s just one of seven large sage trunks, I’d estimate using
all of them and the very large trunk, you could cover about four
square feet with trees. While that may not sound like much, it is
actually a lot of layout real estate. Four square feet covers easily
half of one of the 2' by 4' sections that I use. Add in track, rights-
of-way, buildings, and other open spaces, such as a field or road,
and I have plenty of large tree foliage each section.

larger trees to a scene. I like the way the large trees frame
the scene.
