like a fruit tree than one experiencing a late summer dry spell. In
fact, the results reminded me of one of the pre-made Bachman
fruit trees. I was disappointed after expending all that time and
effort.
Go big or go home
With lessons learned and notes made, it was time to try again.
Two big changes on the next tree. First I would only use the mid
summer Silfor foliage (no brown leaves); and second, do a more
thorough job in breaking up the carrier sheet. I felt confident that
working with the carrier sheet a little more might mitigate the uni-
form shape of the first practice tree.
A larger trunk was selected, this one to represent a very mature
tree.
The assembly process was repeated; toothpick, branches, brown
spray paint, gray dry-brush, and two applications of Noch leaves.
