Kevin Packard took this photo on his 3'
x3' yard diorama of his modified Atlas 8-40BW. Kevin followed
photos of the prototype to detail and weather the model. The
model retains its factory paint, but has been renumbered and
patched. Weathering involved numerous steps of airbrushing,
washes, and dry-brushing, with acrylics, oils and powders.
The diorama track is Micro Engineering track that’s been
detailed and weathered. Kevin used a mixture of Arizona Rock
and Mineral, Woodland Scenics static grass, Silfor tufts and natu-
ral materials for the scenery. We think Kevin did an outstanding
job of capturing the feel of modern railroading. You can see the
