exactly what shade of black or orange is in that bottle.
3b: Preserve the lettering on paint labels by wrapping the
bottle with clear packaging tape. Trim the excess with a
sharp knife.

What I do is an easy way to preserve the information a little
longer. The first thing I do when I purchase a bottle of paint
is to date the bottle, then wrap clear carton or shipping tape
around the entire bottle. I use a utility knife to trim away
the excess. This protects the needed information during
many uses.

Bonus tip:
When you open a new bottle of paint, use a brush
to put a dot of the paint on the lid. This makes it easy to find a
color without reading the label.
