The last car of the
City of Miami
train was the Bamboo Grove, car
number 3300. This car was retired in 1969 (1971 in other records).
Originally sold to a railroad museum in New Orleans, it was later resold
to a Tampa, Florida real estate man, Bill Savage. Upon his death, it sat
on land in Florida where it had been stored. It turned up when a con-
dominium complex was being built on the land where it was stored,
specifically the Wellington Station Condominium complex in Ormond
Beach, Florida.
Identification was made in 2008 by the plate in the car “IC
3300” attached to the inside of the door on the front end,
by Kathy Kopacz, then vice-president of the condominium
association.
It can be found in Google Earth using the co-ordinates of:
29°15’47.14”N 81° 4’42.74”W. The club house at this location
