process, not available to the general public. This meant that
I would need to colorize the photo of the mural in Adobe
Photoshop, a tedious process.
After scanning the image, I blew it up in Photoshop to a size large
enough to see what I was doing. Examining the route names and
lines on the map, I repaired this section of the image with new
lines and text for the city names along the route. I replaced the
clock on the wall with a stock image from the Internet.

3: The finished mural photo has been colorized in
Photoshop. Due to interior space constraints I was able
to eliminate the top portion of the photo and didn't need
to recreate it in Photoshop. By shrinking the photo
down to the size needed to fit the bar area, the pixila-
tion of the original was not a problem anymore.

The City of Miami is unique to
the Illinois Central, so some
of our readers might consider
skipping this article, having
no interest in the IC. Please
reconsider. While the inte-
rior detailing is unique to the
Bamboo Grove, there is much
more to be gleaned from this
article. James describes his
successes and failures, tech-
niques and materials that
might prove helpful to you.
The techniques and materi-
als can be used on passenger
cars of other trains as well as
the interiors of structures. We
encourage our readers to find
an idea they can use for future
modeling.
