17: In the days of black and white
film, photographers often used a red
filter to bring out clouds against a blue
sky. The red filter darkened the blue while
letting the white/gray clouds shine through.
Photoshop has a set of filters that let you do
the same thing, but with any color. I used this to
convert this shot to black and white, bringing out
the backdrop clouds while controlling the lightness
and contrast of other areas.
