To post a question on our forums, you need to be a subscriber
and you need to log in. We do that to eliminate anonymous
trash posts from hackers and spambots.
So how do you subscribe? Let’s talk about that next.
Becoming an MRH Subscriber
Subscribing is free and takes just a moment. Let’s walk through
how to subscribe, so you can start posting questions on our site!
1. Go to

2. Fill out the formwith your desired user name. You can use your
real name like “jack-taylor” or chose a railroady handle like “hog-
gerhead”. It needs to be unique, however. With almost 30,000
subscribers, a lot of the more common handles may be taken. If
your name isn’t unique, the field will turn
red
when you click the
subscribe button.
3. Provide an email address so we can contact you. We do keep you
informed each week with magazine download links, hobby prod-
uct announcements, and links to some of the most interesting
hints, tips, and posts to our site. To make sure you spelled your
email right, we ask you to type it twice. We share your email
with
no one
. If you’re already subscribed, this field will turn
red
.
4. Chose a password and type it in. This protects you so others
can’t log in pretending to be you and make posts.
5. Click the subscribe button. That’s it!

Making posts
To post a question, just log in using the user name and password
you created when you subscribed, then click “Make a post” on the
right hand side.
For posting a question, select
Topic
post. If you want to keep a run-
ning diary of your hobby progress online, you can make blog posts
instead. Blog is short for we
blog
, which is nothing more that your
own public journal. You can also create a poll if you are curious
about what others think about a specific question.
Once you select Topic, you get an editor screen with a subject
box, a bar of formatting buttons, and a box for typing the body
of your post.
As for subjects, we recommend you be as specific as possible.
Don’t just title your post “Help!” but be specific. A much bet-
ter subject line would be “Need advice on soldering feeders,” for
