Finally, I glued enough strips of partition material to the back of
the locker fronts to give me the depth I needed. Then I added one
last strip for the back of the locker, slightly larger than the front of
the combined lockers. I ground the back of the locker down with a
Dremel motor tool. Next I added sides that were also slightly over-
size. I ground down the sides with the motor tool until they were
also the correct size. I repeated the process one last time with the
top. After all the parts were ground down, the seams didn’t show.
Being satisfied with how the lockers turned out, I glued them to
the partitions built for the end of the car. Two of the sofa parts
were glued to the other side of the partition. The sink and shelf
were glued to the end wall in the rest room, and a stool was
added.
Now the bad news; when I went to glue the restroom partitions
down, I found that pre-cutting the carpet was not the best idea.
I had cut the notch a little too far, leaving exposed basswood. I
ripped up the entire burgundy carpet and laid another piece on
