InterMountain has
scheduled a produc-
tion run of HO scale
40’ PS-1 boxcars for
release in March.
Models decorated
for Southern (modern scheme, above), Soo Line, Chesapeake &
Ohio, and U.S. Air Force will have 8’ Youngstown doors. Six-
foot Youngstown doors will be on cars decorated for Canadian
Pacific, ATSF, and Erie Lackawanna. D&RGW and Union Pacific
cars will have a 6’ Creco door. All of the cars will have running
boards, full-height ladders, and PS “washboard” ends.
Ready-to-run mod-
els of 1937 AAR 40’
boxcars are coming
from InterMountain
in March. In addi-
tion to the
Minneapolis & St Louis scheme shown, road names on the HO
scale model will include Northern Pacific, Atlantic Coast Line,
Central of Georgia, Boston & Maine, Southern Pacific, Norfolk
Southern, and Nashville Chattanooga & St Louis.
A production run of
R-40-23 refrigerator
cars coming in April
will include three
versions of PFE cars.
The original 1947
scheme shown
above has both SP and UP heralds – the latter in color. The roof
and ends are red, and the ladders, grabs, door hardware, and
side sill are painted black. This scheme is accurate for 1947.
