Getting Real Column - 9
One key to making this work was the use of half-sections of rail
joiners. Many of the locations were too tight for a full-length
rail joiner.
The same approach was used to create the throat at
Shreveport Union Terminal.
On my layout, adjacent to the town of Rhodessa, Louisiana, will
be situated the Godchaux Sugar Mill. The scene will include a
30” narrow gauge sugarcane railway. The track was laid using
HOn30 flex track and turnouts from “Tillig HO Bahn, HO Gleiss-
System,” The photograph shows the contrast in size between
the standard and narrow gauge track. The contrast between
the locomotives and rolling stock is even more impressive!
