JMRI for switch lists - 1
Generating switch
lists for your
layout ...
It’s not just for programming decoders
– By Dennis Drury
I
f you are reading this magazine, you are computer savvy
and have given some thought to operating the layout
you’re building. Ideally your design allows for operations,
and you know which dispatching system you will use: time-
table, Centralized Traffic Control, track warrants, Direct Traffic
Control, or some other dispatching system. These decisions are
only part of the operating equation.
The next decision is selecting a method of car forwarding and
management. There are a large number of systems from which
to choose. There are the old standbys of colored tabs on car
roofs, car card and waybill and various computer programs.
Each system has its strengths and weaknesses. There is no sin-
gle system that will satisfy everyone.
