16: With the girders in place, you can see how a cov-
ered hopper would be positioned for dumping, one
bay at a time. While there was no evidence of a device
to move the car, most small facilities either had some
kind of cable-operated capstan to pull the car, or a
bucket loader or similar tractor would be pressed into
service, sometimes with its own attached coupler.

17: Actual construction of the final model has offi-
cially begun. I used leftover Gatorfoam board from the
Procter & Gamble project to build the main elevator
structure. It allowed me to use my table saw for accu-
rate cuts and a hot glue gun for quick assembly. This
top view shows the overall footprint of the building.
