1.1 Coupler removal
The approved way is to snap the top off the coupler box; remove
the coupler and spring; then remove the (upper) box holder.
I prefer to take them out in one piece, as shown on my video
(5). I cannot provide a ready 1, 2, 3 method to do this. There
is not enough clearance around the coupler box to directly
remove it. It needs to be encouraged to twist and turn until it
comes out.
Pop the coupler mount off the frame with a screwdriver (4) and
then just worry the entire assembly out of the loco, working it
past the pilot steps and the truck mechanism.
