          ver since I was small boy of 10, I have always had
        
        
          an interest in trains. It all started when my family
        
        
          began taking annual summer holidays to the Blue
        
        
          Mountains situated a short distance just west of Sydney,
        
        
          Australia.
        
        
          I would lie in bed and listen to double-headed steam loco-
        
        
          motives climb the mountain from the plains below. The
        
        
          chuff of their exhaust was always out of sync, and being an
        
        
          impressionable young boy, that sound has stayed with me
        
        
          ever since.
