In January of 1960, at the age of
12, David Karkoski became amodel
railroader. Hewas completely smitten
with the color centerfold photograph
of Paul Larson'sMineral Point and
Northern in theDecember 1959
issue of
Model Railroader
. Davidwas
a Revell model builder at the time,
and the articles by JackWork and
Al Armatage in that issue showed
him therewas a lotmore tomodeling than he had ever
imagined. From that time on, model railroading has been
his primary recreational interest, providing himwithmany
hours of entertainment and
education.
