Testing, 1, 2, 3 ...
What’s right for you?
I
f you listen to media guys setting up for an event and test-
ing the equipment, you’ll often hear the phrase “testing,
1, 2, 3 ...” as they check things to make sure all works as
expected.
So what does this have to do with model railroading? A lot,
actually.
I often see questions on model railroading forums about vari-
ous topics – questions like:
What’s the best benchwork height?
What’s the best separation between decks on a double-
decked layout?
What’s the best train length?
What’s the best maximum grade?
Is matte medium or white glue better for securing ballast?
What’s the best method of modeling dirt?
What’s the best commercial turnout?
