Entering a photo contest...
A regular report on the construction
of a 1950s-something layout
T
hese days I seem to be a man of several hats. In addi-
tion to the MRH contributing editor hat I often wear, I'm
also the superintendent of the NMRA Pacific Northwest
Region (PNR) 2nd Division. In June of this year I traveled to Boise,
Idaho for the PNR regional convention.
If you haven't attended a NMRA regional event, maybe you
should get to one and give it a try. While the national conven-
tions may be on the wrong side of the continent (or even on a
different continent), regional conventions are likely to be much
closer to home. You'll need to be an NMRA member to attend
but a
will set you back less than $10. In
exchange, you'll meet lots of interesting folks, get the chance
to visit lots of layouts, and maybe make some lifelong friends.
Another feature of these meets is the contests. Although I've
been a NMRA member for a number of years, prior to June I'd
never entered a NMRA contest. I elected to enter the photo
contest this time.
