Typically, the comments go something like this, “I am not at all interested in modeling the modern era. It’s all just double- stacks and run-through trains. Talk about boring!” But is this really anything new - modelers not liking the latest-and-greatest in prototype railroading? I say it’s nothing new at all. One notable case-in-point comes from the 1950s when famed modeler John Allen was doing magazine ad photos on his well known Gorre & Daphetid. John made some waves with his “hanging of the diesel salesman” ad.
