Model Railroad Hobbyist | May 2016 | #75 MRH Q-A-T column compiled by Joe Brugger Questions and Answers Wayward signals Q. While driving along the central corridor of the Union Pacific I saw some very interesting signals. Most were fac- ing down the main line so that the engineer could see the face of the signal. However, some locations had additional signals at 90 degrees to the main line, so I could see the face of the signal while I drove along the highway [1]. Some faced toward the mountainside. I even saw, at one location, a set of signals that faced 90 degrees to the tracks without any sig- nals facing down the right of way. Can anyone shed any light on these signals? —Art A.
