Model Railroad Hobbyist | April 2016 | #74 APRIL NEWS column Richard Bale and Jeff Shultz Cyril Durrenberger 1942-2016 Master Model Railroader Cyril Durrenberger of Austin, TX succumbed to lung cancer March 4. He was 74 years old. Durrenberger was an enthusiastic mod- eler and scholar of railroad history. The focus of the native Texan was the railroads that once served the industries of central and east Texas. Several of Durrenberger’s articles appeared in various hobby jour- nals including Prototype Modeler and Model Railroader. As a consultant he provided critical proto- type information to several model manufacturers including the freight car kits developed by Westerfield and Sunshine.
