Model Model Railroad Hobbyist | January 2016 2015 | #74 | #59 Railroad Hobbyist | April YES, IT’S A MODEL compiled by Don Hanley 1. Southern 2427 is drifting toward a cut of cars on an overgrown industrial track. It’s this mundane day‑in and day‑out task that keeps railroads in business. Nick Campbell built and photographed the model. It began as an Atlas Silver Series Southern MP15DC. Nick added many details, including scratchbuilding the work- ing light in the cage that is mounted to the front of the cab. A scratchbuilt cooler and stack of cups sit beside it on the porch. It was made from a leftover BLMA bridge support, and its handles are magnet wire. The weathering was done using a mix of acrylics and gouache. XX MRH’S MONTHLY PHOTO ALBUM • INDEX • TABLE OF CONTENTS
