An easy way to clean wheels by Brent Ciccone 1. Brent built this cloth strip wheel cleaning apparatus using some music wire and some brass tubing mounted in the roadbed. As a follow up to my article in the July 2014 MRH about track cleaning, here’s an easy way I use to clean wheels. The advantage of this method is that it cleans all the wheels whether powered or not. In fact you can run all of your cars through and clean the wheels on all of them. It doesn’t work too well if they are really dirty, but if used periodically, it will help to keep all the wheels on your rolling stock clean. Just a disclaimer: I didn’t invent this method.
