Model Railroad Hobbyist | September 2015 | #67 ASSISTANT EDITOR editorial Don Hanley Back to the layout September is generally considered the month that summer ends. Kids go back to school, football season begins, TV shows pick up where they ended last season, and most vacations are over. There seems to be something in the North American psyche that says: It is time to get back to work, play time is over. With summer ending, what are your hobby plans? Do you have a plan of action for the hobby? More often than not, our “plans” to do this or that are lttle more than daydreams. How often do we say “I am going to fix this, or rework that section of track that causes us headaches.” But at the end of a busy day at work, we want to eat dinner with the family and watch a little TV. Before you know it, the evening is gone and you haven’t done anything. I’m guilty as charged. Maybe we’re just armchair modelers at heart? There is nothing wrong with that – just be honest with yourself. But if you are like me and building the layout is important, how do you get yourself to work on it?
