As I prepare my SP Siskiyou Line layout for the big NMRA Convention this August, I’m back working on the layout again at a feverish pace. But I need to be careful, because in the rush to get things done, I may do something I will regret later. Fortunately, I had enough good sense (or was it just dumb luck?) to stop and think about what I was about to do next. If you read the April Staff Notes, you know I’m working on a bridge scene in one corner of my layout. I’m eager to get to the scenery stage and see the final scene take shape. But before getting too hasty, I stopped to consider where the signals should go in this part of the layout. Oops, wouldn’t you know it – they should go right here, just past the bridge! So let’s see what we’re dealing with. Oh, great! There’s a joist and a riser precisely under the location where the signals need to go!
