Model Railroad Hobbyist | March 2015 | #61 MARCH NEWS column Richard Bale and Jeff Shultz Richard Truesdale 1923-2015 Dick Truesdale, founder of Westside Models Company, died February 3, from complications of diabetes and subse- quent kidney failure. He was 92 years old. Truesdale grew up in the Big Sur region of coastal California. He joined the U. S. Marine Corps at the beginning of World War II and piloted F4U Corsair fighter planes in the South Pacific. After the war Truesdale went to work for Pan American World Airways. As the war in Vietnam escalated, he resigned from Pan Am and entered the U.S. Air Force where he flew B-57 bombers.
