2. Colorado and Southern narrow gauge consolidation num-
ber 71 idles after being topped off at the Dickey water tank.
The coal bunker was filled the night before at the coal dock
a few hundred feet farther down the line. This morning, she
will head a trio of locomotives on an assault up Boreas Pass.
Awaiting light weathering, number 71 is a custom painted
brass import from Overland Models. The scene is photo-
graphed on Darel Leedy’s “under-construction” Sn3 layout,
depicting Dickey, Colorado in the 1920s.
