ExactRail
has
released an HO
scale model of
a Bethlehem
3737/3716 open-top hopper car. Modelers have been antici-
pating this model since a pre-production sample was shown
at the prototype modelers meets in St. Louis last summer and
in Monroe, WA in October. Bethlehem built over 10,000 of the
prototype cars beginning in 1973 with the initial production
release going to Chicago & Eastern Illinois. Subsequent orders
went to the Texas & Pacific, Missouri Pacific, and Chicago &
North Western. Many are still in service today with some cars
rebuilt to 4000 cu ft capacity.
Spotting features replicated by ExactRail include single-door
Wine locks, and welded top cord gussets. The ready-to-
run Platinum series model features interior details, Kadee®
#58 couplers, and ASF 100-ton Ride Control trucks with 36”
machined wheels. ExactRail is offering multiple road numbers
for CEI, TP, MP, and CNW. The model is priced at $38.95 each.
