John continued, "I took this color photo out-of-doors using a real
autumn scene as the background. The original print was obtained
with a 35mm SLR film camera employing a specialized variation on
a pin-hole lens design."
Here's some more of John's modeling and photograpy:
2: John says, "Commuter trains like these were a typical pre-
war rush hour sight in North Jersey on the old CRR of NJ line.
A
host of aging camelback locomotives trains often hauled these
trains. All the models in this scene are modified HO scale items.
"The photo was taken using a unique optical system that oper-
ated like a 14mmW/A lens with an f/55 pin-hole, but without
creating any of the usual image distortion problems. This system
kept everything between 1” and 30” of the lens in-focus simul-
taneously." That's some really wonderful modeling and photog-
raphy, John, truly worthy of our "Yes, it's a model" feature!
